Here’s how our pricing ensures quality service while covering these necessary expenses.

Running a professional plumbing company involves more than just tools and labour. Here are some of the key costs that contribute to our 30% overhead:

    • Licensing & Insurance: Ensuring every job complies with regulations and prioritizes your safety.
    • Service Vehicles: Stocked with high-quality parts, tools, and equipment to respond efficiently to your needs.
    • Training & Expertise: Providing ongoing education and support to our skilled plumbers.
    • Administrative Costs: Covering scheduling, customer service, and business operations.

62.5% Markup for Quality and Value

To cover these operating expenses while ensuring a sustainable business, we apply a 62.5% markup on parts, materials, fixtures, and equipment. This markup ensures that:

    1. PST Is Accounted For:

      • All parts and materials are subject to 7% Provincial Sales Tax (PST), which we include in the base price before applying the markup.
    2. Sourcing & Handling Are Covered:

      • We source high-quality parts from trusted suppliers, handle logistics, and ensure timely availability for your project.
    3. Warranty Protection Is Included:

      • All materials we supply are backed by a 12-month warranty from Blue Monkey Plumbing, in addition to the manufacturer’s warranty, which takes precedence.
    4. Fair Profit for Sustainability:

      • A portion of the markup contributes to our ability to continue delivering exceptional plumbing services.

Your Choice to Supply Materials

We understand that some clients prefer to supply their own materials, fixtures, or parts. If you choose this option:

  • PST and markup will not apply to those items.
  • However, please note that we cannot offer a warranty on client-supplied materials.

 

While we are happy to install materials you provide, it’s important to ensure they are compatible with your plumbing system. Choosing incompatible or faulty materials could lead to additional complications, for which Blue Monkey Plumbing cannot be held responsible

Pricing Example: How Our Charges Are Calculated

Here’s how our pricing works in practice:

  • Base Material Cost: $100
  • PST (7%): $7
  • Subtotal with PST: $107
  • 62.5% Markup: $66.88
  • Total Material Cost: $173.88

 

When added to labour and other charges, the 5% GST will apply to the final invoice total.
